Mitra Keluarga Leads Digital Healthcare in Indonesia in providing High-Value Care

Leading Indonesian hospital enables operational excellence with SAP HANA® and healthcare solutions from PT Abyor International and T-Systems

JAKARTA, Indonesia, 27 June 2016 PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk (Mitra Keluarga MIKA: Indonesia), one of Indonesia’s leading hospital operators, today announced that they are working together with  SAP Indonesia, PT Abyor International and T-Systems, to deliver an integrated solution and system respectively, across their hospitals, improve operational and cost efficiency and elevate patient medical services. Through this project, Mitra Keluarga aims to advance their ability to receive reliable and real-time operational and patient information, to accelerate decision making and optimise revenue realisation.

Following its establishment in 1989, Mitra Keluarga grew to develop one of the leading hospital networks in Indonesia, managing 12 hospitals across the Greater Jakarta region in the Central and Eastern Java provinces, with plans to add 6 more by 2019. Previously known as Rumah Sakit Mitra Keluarga, the company has recently re-branded itself as Mitra Keluarga, in line with its goal to bring to life their vision of family, symbolizing its transformation from hospital to family, embodied by the slogan of life.love.laughter.

The healthcare solutions allowing Mitra Keluarga to run hospitals in real-time encompass operational and clinical solutions, which covers financials, procurement, inventory, patient management, billing and electronic medical records (EMR), as well as solutions from Cerner i.s.h.med from SAP, on the SAP HANA platform. SAP HANA is an advanced in-memory database and application platform, which transforms long-running business calculations into real-time processes.

These integrated solutions for SAP Electronic Medical Record and Business Process Management will allow Mitra Keluarga real-time access on a single platform , enabling one single source of clinical, organizational and financial data at the point of care, for a more personalised patient interaction. An example is the company-wide central EMR, available now on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones through SAP EMR Unwired. This will promote better collaboration and real-time information exchange amongst patients and the physicians and nurses, for improved patient diagnosis and treatment.

The billing solution from SAP also allows cross-department bills (for different treatments) to be consolidated into one main bill, assisting to reduce revenue leakage. The SAP ERP application powered by SAP HANA will manage Mitra Keluarga’s hospital information system, allowing for more progressive continuity of service and business processes and operational efficiency across their hospitals.

At Mitra Keluarga, we endeavour to work towards helping our patients receive the best care by delivering quality treatment to all patients. However, doing so was a great challenge in the absence of an integrated information system, said Ir. Rustiyan Oen MBA, President Director of Mitra Keluarga. By leveraging the expertise of SAP, working together with partners PT Abyor International and T-Systems, we hope to continue to deliver world-class medical services through simplifying business processes, reducing costs and achieving insightful, faster decision making. These benefits gives us an opportunity to improve the quality and safety of patient care, reduce inefficiencies and wastage as well as promote better management and administration of the hospital environment itself, he added.

Megawaty Khie, Vice President and Managing Director of SAP Indonesia, said, SAP is renowned for having the depth and breadth of enterprise solutions  in Healthcare and hospital management across a group of hospitals, running multi-site, complex systems. These will help Mitra Keluarga deliver high-value care and personalised experiences, in line with current expectations by today’s healthcare consumers. This will also simplify their business processes to allow for better hospital management and achieve operational excellence, explained Megawaty.

She continued, For this and all other projects, SAP licenses  the software whilst our partners such as PT Abyor International and T- Systems work to implement the solutions. For this project together with our partners, we are excited to support Mitra Keluarga’s mission of creating better healthcare services for Indonesians. This means that Indonesians can enjoy better healthcare without having to travel to other countries. In this project, we have included SAP MaxAttention services to help in the smooth delivery of the project, validating our deep commitment to their success.

SAP has been operating in Indonesia since 1997 and has helped more than 1,000 customers to Run Simple. With representatives strategically located in Jakarta and now Surabaya, SAP supports thousands of customers and partners across the Indonesian archipelago through their globally acknowledged range of IT solutions.

Said Hari Tjahjono, President Director of PT Abyor International, “Implementing SAP for Healthcare solutions requires extensive experience and knowledge, as well as deep understanding of hospital business processes. With years of experience in implementing SAP solutions for many corporations in Indonesia, we are very grateful to help Mitra Keluarga in implementing the end-to-end hospital management information system using the world-class solutions from SAP. With this implementation, we believe Mitra Keluarga will benefit from process optimisation within the organisation, not only in the back office but also in the processes around patient treatment.

With T-Systems expertise in the implementation of SAP for Healthcare solutions, Mitra Keluarga will be deploying the new IT system in one of the group’s hospitals. This will then be the template project for roll-out to the rest of its hospitals in Indonesia, where Mitra Keluarga will eventually have a centralised IT system that provides electronically integrated patient files, improving visibility across the enterprise for better planning and faster execution. Having successfully implemented similar technology for community and private hospitals in Singapore, T-Systems seamless integration of the Hospital Information System (HIS) across Mitra Keluarga will allow the organisation to improve operational efficiency, employee productivity and offer better quality of care to the patients.

Drawing on a global infrastructure of data centres and networks, T-Systems operates information and communication technology (ICT) systems for multinational corporations and leading healthcare organisations. By connecting information and telecommunications expertise into every segment of healthcare, T-Systems has delivered healthcare providers with new telemedicine and e-health patient-centric applications that are on the cutting edge of innovation.

T-Systems has implemented hospital information systems for over 300 hospitals globally, and continue to be encouraged as we see healthcare institutions such as Mitra Keluarga leverage our expertise to obtain improved patient safety and better care through real-time visibility across the end-to-end healthcare process. This enables the hospitals to have a faster response to patient and organisational needs through a fully integrated HIS,” said Natasha Kwan, Managing Director for T-Systems for Asia South.
